Important Pointers:
Water conditioners and PH buffers need to be used to all untreated water before adding them to the tank. Wait for at least 7 to 10 days to start the water conditioning cycle then slowly add a few fish to the tank. This conditioning cycle will allow chemistry and beneficial bacteria to develop and grow. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check water temperature daily and make sure temperature and filter flows are operational at desired range. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Always condition water before adding them to the tank. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Slowly increase the number of fish over a period of time. This will allow the growth of beneficial bacterial to be established within desired levels. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The number of fish should be limited, as the new aquatic eco-system is not yet to support a full organic load until the natural cycles have had a chance to be established. It is important not to overcrowd the tank with fish. The basic rule is 1 cm of fish per liter of water. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Add/Change water only 25% at a time to avoid sudden drastic changes in water chemistry (e.g. PH level and Temperature). Never change more than 50% of water at a time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get compatible fish and select the fish that prefer same water type . If you have any doubts always consult your local pet shops for advice. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DO NOT OVER FEED! It is recommended to feed twice a day and no more than what can be consumed in 5 minutes. This means feed a small amount and wait until it is finished before adding little more, until 5 minutes is up. DO NOT allow uneaten food to build up in your tank. This is critical to keep your fish healthy and to maintain a good water quality. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In case a fish dies immediately remove it from the tank. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is recommended to clean filter sponge and replace charcoals once a month or whenever the water appear yellowish, cloudy, or present with odors.
